North Mountain Outfitter and Virginia Shooting Sports have created the ultimate in cowgirl adventures!

Join us for a clay-busting, trail-riding excursion that will combine the very best of shooting, horses, fishing and food. Kate and Dwight welcome you to the ranch and have planned a tremendous getaway, complete with all the fixins’.

Cowgirls will arrive beginning at 3p on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Enjoy leisurely strolls around the bucolic mountain ranch and choose to relax on the expansive veranda of the bunkhouse, fish the pond, simmer your stress away in the hot tub or watch the horses grazing peacefully in the paddocks. Cowgirl cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6p with a scrumptious chicken dinner at 7p. As the stars shine in the night sky, settle in around the fire pit for smores and stories.

Monday morning awake to the heavenly smell of bacon, sausage and farm fresh eggs. Breakfast will be served beginning at 7.30a so all riders may be in the barn promptly by 8.45a to meet their trusty steed. Once everyone is saddled up, we will wind our way through the mountainside and over the ridge into Shenandale Gun Club. Arguably one of the most beautiful and picturesque shooting ranges on the east coast, Shenandale offers an incredible array of sporting clay presentations. Kate will be working with you on proper fundamentals for the clay course and the hunt field and will have you busting birds within the first few shells! Thanks to Syren, Caesar Guerini and Fabarm, you will be sharpening your skills on the very finest Italian shotguns in the industry. All gun hire, shells, clays, ears and instruction are included.

After a few hours crushing clays, we will head to the cabin at Shenandale for gourmet box lunches. Then it’s time to saddle back up and take in the views across the valley from the mountaintops! Get your cameras ready, the sights are spectacular and postcard perfect. As we make our way back to the ranch, keep your eyes open for deer, turkey, bald eagles and groves of blooming mountain laurel. Back at the ranch, pick up a fishing pole or a glass of wine or head into the quaint town of Staunton for shopping, antiques and wine tasting. Cowgirl cocktail hour will begin at 6p with a mouth-watering steak and crabcake dinner at 7p. Relax after dinner by the fire or, rocking away the weight of the world on the veranda.

Tuesday morning, all cowgirls will be served a leisurely continental breakfast while they make ready to depart and offer one more peppermint and a kiss good-bye to their favorite horses.

This trip will be a phenomenal memory-maker and bring together like-minded women who love the outdoors, shooting sports and spending time in the saddle. No experience is necessary for any activities, just an open-mind and a willingness to learn and enjoy!

Shotguns & Saddles is just $535pp. This event is limited to 10 cowgirls and includes all meals, lodging, horseback ride, sporting clays, fishing and all the fresh air you can stand.
